5-year-old hero steers car to safety after mom suffers seizure in NC
Thu May 16, 2013
Well done little man! This kid handled the car more responsibly than some adult drivers who can't seem to keep from driving while distracted/drink.
Gun vote stirs passion at Ayotte town hall meetings

Now, Japan has virtually no firearms, and their suicide rate is double that in the USA. What's the suicide rate got to do with anything? Japan's murder rate is less than 1/8th of the U.S. Same goes for Singapore.
Lone officer confronted marathon bombing suspects in firefight, chief says
Sat Apr 20, 2013
Terrorists attack high value, high profile targets. These are usually in high population density locations. Yes, they probably won't hit Okeechobee, Florida, but that's because they probably feel that there's nothing of value there. It really has nothing to do with the voting record of the target po …
Boston bombing spurs Senate debate on tighter immigration screening
Fri Apr 19, 2013
Why, because of 2 nutcases out of hundreds of thousands? Makes about as much sense as banning white people from America because of Timothy McVeigh. Don't forget that one of the bombing victims that was killed was a foreign student from China.
Cool in US, but March ranked 10th warmest for planet

Alan, I'm pretty sure climate scientists know something about the statistics of climate data. They don't just use recorded temperature, there are other was to determine what the climate was like millions of years ago. Ice core data is one of them. I'm not a climate scientist, but I defer to them wh …
Brother, sister drown in neighbor's uncovered pool
Sun Apr 14, 2013
Even as a proponent of gun control, I'll stick my neck out and say that he/she is right about pool deaths. Statistically, more kids drown in pools than by accidental shootings. However, it's not a simple comparison. Far more kids play in pools than with guns. Kids play in pools regularly. They don't …
NBC/WSJ poll: Strong majority backs citizenship for undocumented immigrants
Thu Apr 11, 2013
The problem with that idea is that people are not interchangeable. If there is a need for 10,000 more surgeons in the U.S., and not enough Americans who have the necessary medical training and education, then what? Give the jobs to unqualified Americans? I'm not really sure we want them dispensing m …
United flight diverted after family complains about movie
Mon Apr 8, 2013
I have a young kid. While I would not want him watching violent movies, I can't see how it would be fair for me to ask everyone to cater to his needs. It's easy enough to tell him that he's not allowed to watch the screen, then give him something to do. A piece of paper and pen, or a deck of cards i …
Georgia middle-schooler commits suicide after bullying, being called 'snitch,' dad says
Fri Apr 5, 2013
I think this might be a cultural issue. For some twisted reason, when someone breaks the rules in American society, there's social pressure to just look the other way. This is the same type of behavior that creates the "blue wall of silence", or other similar group behavior.
North Korea threats predictable but Kim Jong Un is not, analysts say
Fri Mar 29, 2013
While I agree with the sentiment in the first sentence of your comment, the racial slurs in your second sentence are disgusting.
